This is one that you might say in vain, but maybe, just maybe it'll work! As you can see, the “ez" on Restez makes it a command for plural. So you'd most likely be saying this to a group of fidgety kiddos...or at least two of your children. To pronounce correctly, think “Tran-keel"...like keel over. This phrase can also be used when asking others to keep quiet, hold still or calm down. You know, all those things the littles are likely to do right away after you ask them.

Right from the get-go, when I was a child, it was very much the 1970's 80s experience, in the back of the station wagon. Singing all the old folk songs.

Bonjour, je m'apelle Madame Musique, mais mon vrai nom c'est Sarah Michielsen. My name is Sarah Michielsen, but I often go by Madame Musique.

My passion for teaching French began with a passion just to be able to give a gift to my daughter, and that is where I decided to start “The Little French Owl". I wanted to give her a welcoming place where she could take ownership of speaking French and offer other parents that same opportunity to explore a new language with their children.

Our sing along circle time classes resonated in community centers, EarlyOn programs and the Toronto Public Library. As a Canadian military wife and entrepreneur, hurdles have come in the need to relocate and rebuild a new base. Arriving in Quinte West, exciting new opportunities that began were halted due to covid. Currently, I am running interactive Zoom singalongs and create educational videos on my recently launched YouTube page.

With the help of BizQuest Quinte, I want to pivot TLFO into a virtual learning experience…Reaching an even broader audience via a children's YouTube show, parent podcast and supplemental teaching programs for schools across Canada.

Also, I am excited to focus on strengthening my community connections by doing a special series of videos where I would give children and their parents a “virtual tour" of “The People in Your Neighbourhood", aiding in local business recovery.

With TLFO, in using music, is the opportunity to partner joy with learning.
I am excited to give the gift of bilingualism to the children in our community and broaden their future opportunities. Many studies have shown that joining language learning with music strengthens the brains connections and those neurons that result in lasting learning. To me success is to see the smiles on the kiddos faces, knowing that memories are being made.

I am passionate about making the journey of bilingualism accessible to all. Anglophones, new Canadians, those with vision loss and the deaf and hard of hearing should have equal access to learning French as it is an official language of our country. As an Anglophone myself, who has gone through this journey with my own bilingual daughter who now attends French school, I know I am up to the task and look forward to building a business that will strengthen our community and be viable in this new world in which we live.
